2 YACHTS IN AROUND BRITAIN

With great excitement we are expecting a second HR 49 for the Around Britain

HOW ABOUT BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THE YACHT?

Generally we find this course can be the most demanding of the RYA qualifications, as the leap from Competent Crew to Day Skipper is a large one. We do advise students take every opportunity to sail prior to moving onto the Practical Day Skipper Course; our Revision Courses and Mile Builder courses are ideal for building on skills already acquired. Additionally, we recommend our students read up on some navigation theory prior to joining us.

We offer two options for the Day Skipper course, a practical only or our nine day combined theory and practical course.

NINE DAY COMBINED RYA DAY SKIPPER COURSE

We have newly introduced this course so that the whole Day Skipper Course can be done at one time. The benefit being that by the end of 9 days you will have both the theory and practical skills necessary to take responsibility for the complete safety and well-being of a yacht and its crew. These responsibilities include:

• Navigation and pilotage
• Passage planning
• Introduction to meteorology
• Weather forecasting
• Engine maintenance

On completion of the course you will have enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day.
PRACTICAL DAY SKIPPER COURSE

As the title suggests this course covers all the practical elements in the Day Skipper course, but you will need to do the theory course seperately. For those with less sailng experience we suggest you do the theory before the practical element of the course. However, for those with more sailing experience it less important which order you do them in.

On completion of the course you wil be signed off on:

• Pilotage
• Boat Handling
• Seamanship
• Navigation

HEAR IT FROM OUR CLIENTS

ANTHONY PERRING, RYA DAY SKIPPER
"The quality of your teachers is the most important element to your business and Kevin Fuller was excellent in all respects. Backed up well by sound administration. Course surpassed all my expectations. Thank you all very much."

IAN RUSSELL, RYA DAY SKIPPER,
"Russell did an excellent job in imparting both knowledge and practical expertise in a short period of time. I thought his tireless attitude and enthusiasm whilst on a yacht in mid-December with two strangers was exemplary. At no time did I feel that anything was too much trouble for him and most importantly he was able to conduct the week in a safe, professional but ‘fun’ manner."

TRUDY NICHOLS, RYA DAY SKIPPER,
"It was a very challenging but a quite superb week. The boat, the provisions and equipment were great. John is well nigh perfect as an instructor, so knowledgeable and skilled – and so good at making us feel we can also do it too! I teach adult teachers on the PGEC/Cert Ed programme and I wish all my 24 students were half as good at their craft as he is."
