2 YACHTS IN AROUND BRITAIN

With great excitement we are expecting a second HR 49 for the Around Britain

CIRCUMNAVIGATE YOUR HOME WATERS

This six week voyage is a fantastic opportunity to really improve your sailing, achieve RYA qualifications, make life long friends and develop a new outlook on our home waters.

'I have so many varied and wonderful memories from my trip, from helming up the Thames to enjoying the music and atmosphere of Dingle.'

Patrick Young

Starting from our base in Dartmouth we will head east along the English coastline on an anticlockwise circumnavigation, visiting numerous historic ports and villages.

On leaving the Solent the traditional seaside town of Ramsgate is the first port of call; next stop is Whitby a quintessential fishing village on the Esk estuary where fishing boats pepper the harbour and the narrow streets are winding and cobbled.

Continuing north to remotest Scotland you’ll be captivated by the savage beauty of the Orkney’s and the uninhabited Western Isles.  Hopping between the Hebrides is ideal for spotting otters, whales, dolphins and seals and this is not all Mother Nature has to offer. For the malt lovers amongst you there are plenty of opportunities for visiting the distilleries and tasting local whiskey.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES...

From Scotland we then sail down the western (Atlantic) coast of Ireland.  Calling at Kilrush in County Clare where you can take in the dramatic scenery of the Shannon Region, Dingle, the most westerly town in Europe and the garrison town of Kinsale in County Cork. All three offer a warm welcome, live music and plenty of the black stuff!

Our final visits are paid to St Mary’s, the largest of the Scilly Isles and Guernsey where the white beaches and exotic sub-tropical plants are a stark contrast to some of the earlier landscapes you will have witnessed. From here it is the final passage to home with fond memories of exhilarating sailing achievements and a greater appreciation of your ‘own back yard’.

As always with our Adventure Sailing programmes the Around Britain is perfect for RYA training or as part of a Yachtmaster Fast Track programme.
